Born in Mexico in 1986, Alex G. Lazard is a leading contemporary painter and printmaker. He completed his training across Mexico and Europe—including "La Esmeralda" in Mexico City, the University of Barcelona, and the Angel Academy in Florence—and refined his skills under the guidance of master Gilberto Aceves Navarro.
Lazard’s work stands out for its bold experimentation with unconventional materials, using linoleum as a canvas, tar as a base, and chalk mixed with paint to add deep texture. Likening his process to Butoh dance, he seeks to "disappear" while painting, letting the artwork channel characters directly from the unconscious mind. His creations fluidly navigate between figuration and abstraction, exploring daily life, spirituality, and the complexity of human connections.
With over 20 collective and 18 solo exhibitions—including prominent shows at Casa Barragán and the Senate of the Republic—Lazard’s art is widely acclaimed by critics and major national media outlets (CONACULTA, La Jornada, El Universal), establishing him as a key figure of his generation.
